One Complete, Family-Style, Open and Go, 12-Week Course for Catholic Homeschoolers

6 Weeks of First Reconciliation + 6 Weeks of First Eucharist

First Holy Communion preparation does not belong primarily to a classroom.

It belongs to the family.

The Catholic Church is clear about this.

“Family catechesis precedes, accompanies, and enriches other forms of instruction in the faith.” (CCC 2226)

Parents are not merely assistants in sacramental preparation, they are the primary catechists. Canon 914 explicitly names parents first in responsibility for Eucharistic education. Throughout the Code of Canon Law, the Church repeatedly affirms parental primacy in the formation of children.

Most parishes genuinely desire to offer strong First Communion catechesis. Many do a beautiful job. But we also know that a classroom setting doesn't work for every child.

We have heard from many parents who stepped away from parish programs because:

  • Their child could not tolerate the classroom environment
  • Their child is neurodivergent or sensitive to noise and overstimulation
  • They encountered confusing or theologically questionable instruction
  • They wanted to be more personally involved in preparation

Parents needed a faithful, structured, beautiful alternative.

So we created it.

Welcome to Bear Good Fruits™!

  • Priest Reviewed & Approved

Rooted in Scripture, the Catechism, and Canon Law affirming parental primacy in sacramental formation. Clear, faithful teaching you can trust. No confusion. No watered down theology. Just solid Catholic truth presented beautifully and accessibly.

  • Complete 12-Week Sacramental Course

This goes beyond simply understanding the Mass. It is full preparation for Confession and Holy Communion in one cohesive program. Parent led, open and go lessons with no prep required for core teaching. Everything you need, all in one place.

  • Family-Style & Neurodivergent Friendly

Ideal for ages 6–13+ and designed to be used with multiple children at one table. Flexible, hands-on, and adaptable for special needs and neurodivergent learners or any child who struggles in classroom settings.

Engaging Parents as Primary Catechists

It can feel overwhelming to teach about sin, confession, forgiveness, and the Real Presence, especially if you are a recent convert and still learning these things yourself.

Many parents outsource sacramental formation to their parish because they assume someone else can do it better.

But the Church does not assign that responsibility away from you.

This course removes intimidation and makes parent led formation simple and easy to integrate right into your current homeschooling rhythm.

Whether you are a seasoned cradle Catholic or a convert still deepening your own understanding, the Teacher’s Manual walks you step by step through theology, discussion, and application.

You learn right alongside your child.

This is not another box to check or a quick unit study. It's formation for the whole family.

LEARN MORE
  • It Is a Complete Sacramental Course, Not Just a Unit Study

Most homeschool resources we've found for sacrament prep left us wanting more. This course prepares your child for both First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in one cohesive 12-week plan. It walks them through sin, mercy, virtue, reverence, prayer, and Eucharistic devotion in a structured and intentional way. It is formation, not just information.

  • It Equips Parents Instead of Replacing Them

The Church is clear that parents are the primary catechists of their children. Rather than outsourcing this responsibility, this course was designed to make it simple and approachable for you to lead. Clear teaching scripts, Catechism references, discussion prompts, and theological depth allow both cradle Catholics and converts to teach with confidence.

  • Family-Style and Multi-Age Friendly

Most sacramental programs are built for one grade level in a classroom setting. This program is built for real homeschool families. Whether you have a 6 year old and a 12 year old preparing together, or multiple children learning at different levels, each lesson contains layered elements that engage everyone around the same table.

It Is Beautiful and Engaging

This is not outdated black and white sacrament prep that feels dry and lifeless.

It is also not loud, overstimulating, brightly colored cartoon material that distracts from the sacredness of what your child is preparing to receive.

The design is calm, aesthetically pleasing, and reverent. Clean layouts. Sacred art. Intentional typography. A peaceful visual atmosphere that reflects the dignity and weight of the Sacraments and helps foster focus, quiet attention, and instill awe.

We believe resources should lead children into reverence, not distract them from it.

printable prayer cards

Our First Communion Companion Study comes with The Little Seeds Collection of printable prayer cards for children. It includes 12 prayers used for Reconciliation, Mass and family prayer times, including two prayers with Latin and English translations.

easy to use

The Little Seeds Collection directly corresponds to the weekly prayers provided in the Bear Good Fruits™ First Communion Companion Study. Each week, children focus on a prayer meant to gently prepare them for their First Reconciliation and then their First Communion.
